Forestry Friday

Every Friday Reception class try to spend as much time outside as possible. We have a wonderful environment for learning outside and we make the most of it! Children will be developing their social and language skills, as well as learning about nature and spending time with nature in our increasingly urban world.

Today they made dens, played hide and seek, caught monsters, made kites, ate lots of apples and pears, rolled down our hill, read stories on the grass, made mushroom tents with the parachute, played cowboys amongst other things. They were very, very busy...

Today was the first time we lit a fire and we taught them the rules for being safe. They knew to make sure and stay outside the circle unless invited in by an adult. In the coming weeks we will be using the fire to boil water for hot chocolate and toast marshmallows. Please be aware that they will come home smelling of woodsmoke on a friday!
