We Wish You A Merry Christmas!

Reception and Key Stage 1 put on their performance of 'Eddie The Penguin Saves The World' for their parents.

They sang really loudly and everyone gave them a big round of applause at the end.

Well done for working so hard at the end of a long term!

Winter Walk and Firefighters!

It wasn't our usual Forestry Friday because we went for a winter walk to St Pauls park.

'I was Star of the Day and I was kind to my friends in the park.' - Takara

'The park was good.' - Salma

'The park was nice it was cold and ice on the grass!' - Sabrina

Then, in the afternoon we had a visit from the Firefighters! Here are some questions we asked them:

'If your house has fire will they protect it so it can't be burned any more.' - Jeremy

'Do they help us put the fire out?' - Safa

'Do they put protective clothes on?' - Hamdi

We helped to raise nearly a hundred pounds for Children In Need by putting on an X Factor show. All the teachers presented an act and here is what the children thought:

A Visit From The Police

We had a visit from Community Officer Chai and Community Officer Martin today. They are helping us with our topic 'People Who Help Us' and the children enjoyed asking them questions, like:

'What happens if someone hurts us?'

'What should we do if we get lost?'

They had a look at Police equipment and even tried on a Police hat! We have been enjoying turning our Home Corner into a Police Station, and we have even been catching baddies and making sure they know how to be good.

Forestry Friday Fire!

Today is Bonfire night as well as being one of our 'Forestry Fridays'. Even though it was raining we had a lovely day outside and in the afternoon Miss Pearce and Mr Caldwell made a fire!

We spent a long time talking about how to keep safe and the children knew that they couldn't come inside the circle of cones and that fire can be dangerous. We didn't make a big fire but all of Reception enjoyed it anyway, especially when we lit some sparklers!

Lollipops

We are starting our new topic: 'People Who Help Us'

Over the next few weeks we will have visits from lots of different people in our community. Our first visit was from Halima who is our Lollipop Lady. The children asked her questions:

How do you stop the cars?

Is it easy to stop the cars?

Do you hold children's hands?

The children all said a big 'Thank You!' to Halima.

Pretty as a picture

This is the last week of Term 1 and we are all impressed with how much the children have been learning and how independent they are. Here are some examples of the creative work that they have been doing all on their own!

Mehndi & Milkshakes

This week the children have had a visit from Jwana's mum who came in to draw Mehndi patterns for us. She is very talented and the children thought the patterns were lovely! She drew them on to card for us and we did our own patters next to it.

Mr Shamsudin comes in to work with us on Thursday and Friday. He had a great time helping the children make a banana smoothie. The children came up with another rhyme for this recipe: 'Yummy, yummy in my tummy!' It was easy to make- just blend together milk and bananas. Try it at home!

The children have all been doing very well learning their sounds. We have covered:

Bread and Babies!

We had another busy week last week!

On Wednesday we baked some bread and everyone tried some straight out of the oven- it was delicious.

We also said 'hello' to the parents who came along to Reception to find out about reading as well as letters and sounds. There were lots of parents there- thanks for coming!

On Thursday, one of Miss Pearce's friends brought in baby Eddison and we asked his mummy some questions:

'What does a baby eat?'
'Does he have a nappy?'
'Why doesn't he talk?'

and many more...

Can you think about what you could and couldn't do when you were a baby?
