Human Pyramids and Subtraction!

We put on a circus show for the whole school! Everyone enjoyed it.

People did the hula hoop and balanced bean bags.

It was lovely weather so we made a human pyramid! This one had three children.

This one had five!

This one had five, but it was a little wobbly...

We wrote subtraction sums on the big board outside.

Miss Pearce and Mr Caldwell were shocked at how good we were.

We could not stop writing sums!

We filled up the board!

We Went Digging!

We have been gardening in Reception.

Sumeya A: We was digging.

Safa: We were digging the grass.

Omar: We used spades.

Asiya: I want to grow strawberries.

Jamelia: I want to grow potatoes.

Clowning Around

Reception are learning all about the circus!

We had a WOW day and invited in Juan from Circomedia in Portland Square to teach us circus skills.

We had great fun all day and have started learning how to throw, catch and balance all kinds of things.

Pirates and Bears!

We went on a treasure hunt! We found treasure!

 There was a key in the chest. We think it could be for Captain A-haha's boat.

 On Forestry Friday we made a fire and we made a trap for the bear.

We heard growling...

We were scared!

Was it a bear?

No! It was Jason. He tricked us!

We love to read!

The children in Tigers and Zebras have been learning how to read. A lot of the children are now on the reading scheme and taking home a reading book every day.

Please read this book with your child and make sure they bring in their book bag every day. They are also bringing home a picture book twice a week which is for mums and dads to share and read to their child.

This week the children will also bring home a yellow reading diary which is for you to fill in after reading with your child.

We have very high expectations and want our Reception children to be reading level 6 books by the end of the year. We can only do this if we work together!

Anti-Bullying Week

 The whole of Cabot School have had an anti-bullying week.

In Reception we have been thinking about how we can stop bullying before it even begins. We talked about what makes us feel sad, worried or upset and how we can stop feeling that way.

We went into the ICT suite and we drew some pictures of our emotions and how we like to feel happy but do not like to feel bad.

Mr Riordan saw our work in assembly and said that it was good!

Up up and away

In Reception we are learning about things that go 'Up up and away'. Here are some of the things we think go up up and away:

We made 'a space room' for quiet reading and decorated the walls with our pictures. We made planes and rockets with paper, card and triangles.
